Are You An Everyday Person?

The Sedalia Center’s Counter Ridge History Project welcomes you to a day rooted in the momentous step this country took on June 19,1865 towards perfecting our union into a place where everyday people of every description share a society, equal in responsibilities, rights, and possibilities. It’s an outstanding achievement and a developing story.

The Sedalia Center, with its 17 acres at the foot of Terrapin Mountain, is a place as well as an idea: a place dedicated to the Art of Living and the Living Arts. As Counter Ridge Elementary School, in 1959 it replaced a 1919 two-room school. Now, with a new roof in a new century, this historic site has become a place where people can meet and find community through the arts, diverse company, good food and outstanding natural beauty. Working with what we’ve got multiple diverse people and interests, it is within our local communities that we can meet each other, find common ground, and build that more perfect union.

Juneteenth Jubilee 2024 celebrates the everyday people who don’t show up in the major pixels, but who embody our country and our society. Gather with the rest of us everyday people on June 15 to celebrate America at its best.
