For the Art of Living and The Living Arts
Founded in 1991 by artist Annis McCabe and her husband, local beloved medical doctor Bill McCabe, The Sedalia Center has enjoyed its years operating as a non-profit, with its mission of inspiring all to explore the art of living and the living arts… and along the way discover the creativity and imagination in each of us.

Our Events
The Sedalia Center is home to some of the most anticipated annual food and music festivals in southwest Virginia, drawing loyal attendees year-after-year from the local communities of Big Island and Sedalia, as well as from the cities of Lynchburg, Amherst, Roanoke and Bedford.
Rich History
The Counter Ridge History Project is being undertaken to reclaim the story of the Counter Ridge School and to establish its place in local history. Bedford County hired the preeminent architect of the area, Stanhope Johnson, to design it, and built it to meet standards of quality for public schools at the time. After it closed, it eventually became the Sedalia Center, established “for the Art of Living and the Living Arts.”
What They Say About Us
“It was a great time! We plan to come again.”

Scott Walker

“Thank you so much for the just right sized festival. It was big enough to keep everyone’s interest and small enough to enjoy almost everything before the wee one got too tired. I think this was my grandson’s first Celtic Fest and he LOVED it. Thanks again”
