Sedaliafest

Sedaliafest is our annual fundraiser for The Sedalia Center

On August 10, 2019 we will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Woodstock!   Sedaliafest is SedaliaStock! Gates open at 4 pm,  followed by three great local bands:  Mountain Run Band at 4 pm, Rendezvous at 6 pm, and ToNY CaMM & The Funk All Stars at 8 pm.

We’ll also have contests throughout the day like Best Hippie Couple, Plinko-Style Woodstock Trivia, Grooviest Campsite, etc.  The Blue Room will have some arts and crafts to make and take, and we’ll have great and groovy vendors on site, too!  Kona Shaved Ice will be here, Blue Ridge Beverage, Watts Poppin & Chillin, Dem Bunz, Uprooted, and more.

Too hot? Chill out in the Blue Room and catch the Woodstock movie which will play on a loop throughout the festival.

Friends of Sedalia support  the idea that the living arts & the art of living are fundamentally important in all lives.  As we remain determined to promote, preserve, and enhance the arts and cultural heritage for everyone in our region, while also serving as an educational, instructional and creative resource for our local rural community, we invite you to become a friend and continue to support our efforts.

Celtic Festival

Come celebrate the fun and fanfare of
The Sedalia Center’s Celtic Festival

Second Wynde will headline our festival with grrreat rollicking music and good fun!  Our good friends,  Riddle on the Harp, will play traditional and lovely ballads.  And we’ll have the luck o’ the Irish as Mr. Brian Coughlan from Limerick, Ireland performs throughout the day.

Go for the Sights
Highland games demonstrations will be conducted during the day on our North Lawn.  Several Scottish Clans will be on site to help you learn about the families and lore belonging to each clan. We’ll have a variety of dancers too! Plus, come meet the pillaging Vikings of the Valley, The Society for Creative Anachronism, Faerie Folk, and more!  Children will be enchanted with face painting, riding in the Viking Longboat, and creating fairy houses in our Walk of Poems.

We’ll also introduce the newest addition to our growing playground, “The Healthy Bedford.”  She’s a huge wooden tugboat complete with swings and slide, ready to set sail with a boatload of imagination.  Special thanks to the Bedford Community Health Foundation for making her possible!!

Go for the Delicious
In addition to our wonderful regular fare, concessions will offer Irish Bangers on a Bun, and Irish Nachos.  Don’t miss out on our Blue Room Pub (BuRP)  specials like Cock-a-Leekie Soup, plus other tasty treats.  Beale’s will be on site dispensing their own brand of liquid deliciousness….and a special brew made especially for The Celtic Festival, 80 Shilling (from an old Scottish recipe)!

Country Fair & Gathering

Celebrating Our 27th Year!

The Gathering for Sustainability and the Art of Mindful Living is a part of the Country Fair that brings together people who have set themselves the task of protecting traditional ways of agriculture and horticulture that recycle elements of the agricultural process — manure, yard waste, water, seed — and protect it from pollution or degradation — into the resources that maintain fertility with minimal inputs from outside the farm.

  • The Country Fair is entertaining, but its mission is to reconnect children (and adults who are willing to relax a little) with the natural pleasure of being outdoors.
  • The Discovery Trail is open — a mowed path around the grounds that is an easy walk in the country. It begins and ends in the wooded Walk of Poems, a shady grove where children can run and play, and adults can sit and relax or walk the paths that preserve the poetry of Matthew Jordan Brown.

We are currently accepting craft and food vendors for The Country Fair and Gathering. Please check our vendor page for more information or call 434-299-5080  or email office@sedaliacenter.org for more information about participating.

Saturday, June 1, 2019

Mark your calendars for a beautiful day at Sedalia featuring a wide variety of local and regional Artisans. Painters, potters, blacksmiths, wood workers, agri-artisans, and more will be displaying, demonstrating, and offering their wares for sale.

A lively array of musicians will be on board to provide entertainment. Delicious lunch and munchies provided for sale by specialty vendors and our concession stand will also be open.  Fruity, fresh Sangria will be served and an assortment of wine choices.

This event is in partnership with Bedford Artisan Trail, The Artisan Center of Virginia, and The Sedalia Center and is sponsored in part by House  Dressing, Bank of the James, and generous local art patrons.

Still need more information? Contact Linda Scott at office@sedaliacenter.org or 434-299-5080

The 2019 Artisan Fair at Sedalia showcases the best of the region’s creative community: art, artisan crafts, agriculture, farm to table foods, live music, and art education workshops and gallery exhibit.  Through a community centered model, and partnership among the Bedford Artisan Trail, The Artisans Center of Virginia, and The Sedalia Center, the Artisan Fair seeks to foster long term relationships among artisan vendors, their patrons, and the growing regional creative economy.

We invite you to come out to the Artisan Fair at Sedalia and support your local artisans.  From potters to painters, blacksmiths to wood workers, photographers to metal artists, agri-artisans to local farmers, we are fortunate to have so many talented people in our community.
